About Us

Rewind to 2018…

…when we realised that the London rat race wasn’t for us. Ollie was working all hours in Investment Banking and I was Head of EU events for an Interiors Tech firm. We had the nice London house, the social life, the good jobs… but were we happy? We were burnt out to the point that I even googled one particularly stressful late night at the office “weekend escape 1 hour from London” - I was desperate for that escape. After spending time travelling and figuring out what was next for us the pandemic brought us back to the UK when we realised that the Lodge had everything we had been looking for. So in 2020 we moved our lives to Essex, back to Ollie’s family home and embarked on the biggest project of our lives. Our mission is to create that escape and much needed moment of pause for others who need it. The Lodge will keep us busy for many years to come and we hope you enjoy following our journey. You can read more about the history and the plans for the Lodge here.

  • One of the first things we did when we arrived at the Lodge in 2020 was set about re-creating a veg patch in an overgrown patch of land which was once an abundant garden. It’s our mission to grow our own organic food and become as self-sufficient as possible with the dream of one day being able to provide nourishing garden to table meals at retreats here. Nourishing mind, body and soul starts with the food we eat and the soil we grow it in. We have also adopted rescue hens from caged farms who come to the Lodge for a better life. In return, they provide us and our guests with the most delicious free range eggs!
