After the success of the shepherd’s hut we decided to build a second hut but this time overlooking the water with views out to the ancient Lodge Oak.

Sip your freshly ground morning coffee from bed watching the wild ducks and moorhens on the pond, with fresh eggs from the resident rescue hens for breakfast. In the evening you can enjoy a glass of champagne in the outdoor bath whilst supper is cooking on the fire pit. The hut is fully kitted-out with everything you might need for a short break to rest, recharge and reconnect.

Amenities

  • Star gaze from your luxury king size bed complete with laid back linen bedding or gaze out of the fully glazed french doors over the pond and ancient oak which has stood for more than 500 years. In built projector screen for those cosy film nights in bed with the log burner roaring - a selection of movie classics is provided. Under bed storage and coat hooks. (Please note, this is the only storage and so best to pack lightly!). A selection of books and games are also provided.

  • Hot shower, underfloor heating, luxury scandi flushless loo, towels, bath robes, hairdryer and gorgeous eco products which we refill to minimise plastic waste.

  • Luxury cast iron roll top bath nestled amongst the trees. Grill over the fire-pit to either cook supper on or keep warm by. Comfortable seating and table for al-fresco dining. Parasol provided in the summer. Guests are also welcome to use the jetty and decking area to relax and of course can always take a dip in our refreshing wild swimming lake!

  • Kitchen including a fridge with mini freezer, gas hob, oven, coffee grinder and V60 filter, all the utensils you might need. Complimentary welcome hamper with the essentials and a few surprises! In built dining table and chairs that can be pulled down and tucked away when not in use.

Additional Info & Facilities

  • WILD SWIMMING

    Take a dip in our wild swimming lake. If you are new to cold water therapy but would like to know what all the hype is about we can arrange a private breathwork and cold water immersion intro with a qualified instructor trained by Wim Hof himself.

    YOGA/PADDLE BOARD YOGA

    We can offer guests a private yoga by the lake or a paddle board yoga session.

    SOUND HEALING BY THE LAKE

    Sound healing is an ancient meditative practice that uses crystal healing bowls and different musical implements to create healing vibrations around the body. We can offer a private lakeside session.

    COLD WATER IMMERSION

    We are delighted to be able to offer a cold water theory masterclass with a qualified swim instructor where you will learn everything you need to know about cold water swimming safety before experiencing a cold water dip/ swim in our private lake.

  • We love dogs at the Lodge and have our own Romanian rescue dog called Hatty who is quite the handful! We allow one small/ medium sized dog to stay in the hut and can provide a dog bed, bowls and treats. We just ask that dogs be kept on lead on the land as we have free roaming rescue hens (we can provide a long lead if needed). There is a bridleway accessible from our entrance perfect for morning walks or just 10 mins away you can access miles and miles of coastline.

  • We are delighted to be able to offer guests a chance to order a selection of breakfast hampers and a special celebration hamper. We can also have veg and meat boxes delivered to your hut.

  • The hut can accommodate two adults and a travel cot.

  • The price for this hamper is £25
    (for 2 people).

    This includes bacon and sausages from our local butcher, free-range Lodge eggs, tomatoes (homegrown when in season), mushrooms and breakfast juice (we can swap out with vegetarian/ vegan options).

  • The price for this hamper is £70
    (for two people).

    If you are coming to the Lodge for a celebration we offer the most gorgeous celebration picnic hamper and (weather permitting) we can also set up a private picnic area for you by the ancient oak tree or waterside by the pond with some spectacular views. It includes a bottle of local Essex sparkling wine and choice of afternoon tea/  cheese & charcuterie/ or breakfast platter with croissants and seasonal fruits.
